The Insurance & Investment Shop was established in 1971 by Lincoln Myburgh. We specialise in Household, Business, Vehicle, Life and Medical Insurance. We serve individuals, families and businesses & take pride in professionally managing your Insurance and Investment Portfolios.

The reason we call it Personal Insurance is that we, as brokers, are here to serve you personally when it comes to your insurance needs.

Shannon joined The Insurance & Investment Shop in 1997 as an Administrator and Personal Assistant to her father, Lincoln Myburgh. In order to gain her independence, she has completed all the necessary exams and is the top medical aid broker in the Garden Route who also specialises in Short Term Insurance, Life and Investments. Shannon is always willing to assist her clients in the best possible way and keeps her team well educated on the current best available options out there. She’s reliable, trustworthy and a aims to give each of her clients quality service.

Lincoln joined the agency force of Liberty Life in 1970 and achieved international quality awards, production awards and is a member of LUASA. Lincoln moved to Plettenberg Bay in 1990 and started his own brokerage called The Insurance & Investment Shop, one of very few Insurance Shops in the country where people can actually walk in and shop for life insurance, investments, medical aid, retirement planning or short term insurance. After 48 years he still enjoys each new deal that he negotiates!

Margaret started her banking career at FNB Bloemfontein in 1976 in the manager’s department. In 1986 she moved to Plettenberg Bay where she continued to work as a Relationship analyst in Credit Department. Margaret has joined The Insurance and Investment Shop on 1 June 2017, and is in charge of the Office Compliance as well as new business for Short term and Commercial lines.

Kerry Joined the Insurance & Investment Shop in February 2014 after returning to South Africa from abroad where she had worked as a teacher as well as an Investment Administrator for various investment houses, abroad and in South Africa. Kerry holds a BA(HED) degree in teaching and also has an Investment Administrative Qualification. Kerry is our Medical Aid and GAP cover specialist.

Barbara was involved in the medical administration field for the last 20 years and joined our team in August 2022. Barbara is the assistant to our medical side of the insurance and always happy to help with all your medical aid and gap claims.

Candice joined the insurance shop in October 2024. Having previously worked with glass claims for the past 6 years as an administrator and customer service consultant she brings her experience in dealing with customers claims.

Megan Priscilla Connor has been in the insurance industry since 2007, beginning her career as a broker at Standard Bank Insurance Brokers. She later moved into business development at Alexander Forbes. In 2015 she joined the Santam broker servicing division at the head office in Johannesburg.
She holds a BCom (MBM) degree and completed her Regulatory Examination (FSB) in 2012.
In December 2023, Megan-Priscilla relocated to Plettenberg Bay and a year later joined The Insurance and Investment Shop as a Short-Term Broker.

Barbara’s short-term insurance career spans 35 years, working as a Broker in Johannesburg. She moved to Plettenberg Bay in 2018 and joined us in 2025. She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge as part of our Short-term team.

Wilbur joined The Insurance and Investment Shop in February 2025, returning to the financial services industry where his career first began. Over the years, he has gained a wide range of experience across industries — from supervising at Avis Budget in Knysna and Plettenberg Bay for eight years, to roles in the motor service industry, telecommunications, and media sales with the Knysna-Plett Herald.

Felicity started working at First National Bank in King Williams Town in 1995 as a data-capturer where after she moved to Plettenberg Bay to work as a multi skilled consultant at FNB in 2004. Felicity joined The Insurance & Investment Shop on 01 July 2013.

Carol joined The Insurance and Investment Shop Brokers CC in April 2023 after moving from Johannesburg to settle down in Plettenebergbay. Carol has over 30 years experience as an Executive and Personal Assistant and has joined the team as Shannon’s PA.
